DESCRIPTION: The Fire Holder is a circular pit crafted from layers of sculpted round Credit Valley sandstone. They are arranged radiating inward from the perimeter. These curved flagstones lead prayers to the centre of the fire. The tracks of the snapping turtle, blue heron and muskrat remind us of our surroundings and the animal spirits that live among us. Four paths of granite pavers intersect this ring and extend into the four directions. A strong flagstone base, crafted from Credit Valley flagstone and black granite pavers, supports the Fire Holder. The shape mirrors the spiral found in elements of nature and the cycle of life. It reminds us of our place within the earth we call home and fire's importance as an element.
